Today's list contains a number of publications by Henry S. Fitch (1909-2009) who passed away earlier this month. Fitch's contributions to herpetology and ecology have long been recognized and many of his species studies laid the foundation in which all future studies will build upon. Included, is one paper co-authored by the only other living herpetologist that will turn 100 this year - Wilmer Tanner. I also just received copies of the latest book in the Southwest series by the University of Georgia Press: Gibbons, Whit, Judy Greene and Tony Mills. 2009. Lizards & Crocodilians of the Southeast. University of Georgia, Athens, 235 p. Stiff Paperback. $24.95 Other volumes in this series are also listed below. Please let me know if you would like anything from this list. There probably won't be another list out for at least a week, maybe two weeks. Breck Alcala, Angel C. 1986. Guide to Philippine Flora and Fauna: Amphibians and Reptiles. Natural Resources Management Center & University of the Philippines, Manilla, xiv, 195 p. Hardcover - probably done by a previous owner, but nicely done with the paper wrappers used as the cover, over the boards. $35.00 Bishop, Sherman C. 1943 (1994). Handbook of Salamanders: The Salamanders of the United States, of Canada, and of Lower California. Comstock, Ithaca, NY, xxii. 555 p. PB. $30.00 Buhlmann, Kurt A., Tracey D. Tuberville and J. University of Tennessee Press, Knoxville, xviii, 284 p. PB, Most guides to animals in parks are intended primarily as identification aids and include relatively little on the biology of the species. Dodd's book is much more, with detailed information on all aspects of the natural history of these species. Biologists, students, and visitors to Great Smoky Mountains National Park will find this an indispensable guide. -Arthur C. Echternacht. $24.95 Dorcas, Mike and Whit Gibbons. 2008.
